In order to be ready, we need to know it first. That is why study of the Bible is so important.

That is so true, Karen. For me, I think I need an attitude of love and I need to be in prayer.

I agree...II Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself appoved unto God, A workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth.

I was actually looking for a different verse to answer the question, but I came across this, and it fits so well

Romans 12 - the whole chapter...another step by step directions
vs1 present your bodies a living sacrifice
vs2 renewing of your mind
vs3 not think higher than you ought to think
vs4-8 we are one body, different jobs
vs9 love with dissimulation
vs10 be kindly affectioned one to another
vs11 not slothful
vs12 rejoice in hope
vs13 given to hospitality
vs14 bless, curse not
vs15 rejoice with those that rejoice, weep with those who weep
vs 16 be of the same mind
vs17 be honest
vs18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peasceably with all men
vs19 avenge not yourselves
vs20 help they enemies
vs21 overcome evil with good

The only verse I typed in full was vs 18, just because I love it - as much as is possible, as much as lieth in you - knowing that it isn't always possible, but try really really hard...it just spoke to me, because sometime we try, and it just doesn't work, sometimes we need to say/accept the fact that it's just no in us...and that's okay, as long as we tried.

all the edits were because the cats were helping me this morning :) and it was posting before I was done typing

Gotta love those lap pets! My doxies "help" me type sometimes, too!

Thanks for the well-thought out reply Bonnie, I really enjoyed the way you summed up the chapter.
